The Daily Llama Brings You The Word Of The Day For October 26th Through October 30th, 2020

The Daily Llama brings you the word of the day, short meditations for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, October 26th through Friday, October 30th.

MONDAY, October 26th

WORD OF THE DAY: UNWAVERING

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

This year has thrown numerous challenges at us. It can be tempting to sink into dark, pessimistic thoughts and feelings when we look at the state of the world is in. We may even struggle with the thought that nothing we do will make a difference.

But now more than ever before is our light needed in the world. We must be like the mountain flower who pushes through heavy rock seeking the sun. The pathway through the darkness is to follow the trail of love. For where there is love, there is light. Where can I find love today? Where can I give love today?

TUESDAY, October 27th

WORD OF THE DAY: USEFUL

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

We do not get sober for our benefit alone. We get sober so that we may again be a useful, loving presence in our families and our communities. In our sobriety, we show up. In our sobriety, we tell the truth. In our sobriety, we honor the Divine wherever and however it shows up in our lives.

In this, we realize we are enough and we have enough. When we fully embrace our “enough-ness,” we stop the crazy-making pursuit of more. What is one useful thing I can do today? How can I accept that I am enough just for today?

WEDNESDAY, October 28th

WORD OF THE DAY: EMPOWER

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

At times, life may implore us to be a candle:  to be the one to tell the hard truth, to make the tough decision, to set a clear boundary, to lead or influence others to do the right thing. As a candle, others make look to us for inspiration or guidance, to be a constant source of strength and hope. Other times, life may require us to be more like a mirror:  to be the one to support  others, to listen and to love, to do the work behind the scenes or the work nobody else wants. The mirror does not create the light, but it reflects it and empowers it to shine more brightly than the candle does on its own.

In recovery, we learn that we cannot get sober on our own. One addict helping another is what all the recovery programs have in common. It is in supporting each other that we are empowered to stay sober. In what ways can I spread my light today? In what ways can I help someone else spread their light?

THURSDAY, October 29th

WORD OF THE DAY:  MOTIVATE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

If we wait for the perfect conditions, we’ll never get started. Start exactly where you are with exactly what you have. Don’t wait for Monday, or the first of the month, or the next sunny day. Don’t start in the morning. Start now. Who cares if you aren’t doing it perfectly.

Who cares if you just messed up 5 minutes ago. Who cares if everything is a mess and nothing is the way you want it to be. Start again. Never give up on yourself. You can always start over at any time. This is how we make progress. We keep moving forward, doing the next right thing. What thing do I think I need to get started? Challenge that thought and start anyway.

FRIDAY, October 30th

WORD OF THE DAY:  VITALITY

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

When we’ve finally gotten the hang of self-care, we will find that we are full of vitality again. When we’ve figured out what our boundaries are and we’ve stopped compromising ourselves to please other people, we will find that our energy is rarely depleted. If we are living in accordance with our values, even when we are physically exhausted, our spirit is full of life because we live in connection to our purpose. When we live in our truth, we walk through the world powerfully.
