The Daily Llama Brings You The Word Of The Day For November 9th Through November 13th, 2021

The Daily Llama brings you the word of the day, short meditations for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 13th.

MONDAY, November 9th

WORD OF THE DAY: OPTIMISM

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

We cannot afford to let negative attitudes prevail. It is normal and necessary to recognize and feel all of our feelings. But once that is done, we must pick ourselves up and decide to face the world with an optimistic spirit. If we allow a pessimistic mindset to overtake us, then we will continue to attract that negativity into our lives. If we don’t adopt a positive mindset about the future, we will start self-sabotaging our efforts to find wholeness, wellness, and success. What do I need to do each day to put my attitude into an optimistic frame of mind?

TUESDAY, November 10th

WORD OF THE DAY: PURPOSE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

We have three basic spiritual needs:  connection, meaning and purpose. It is paramount to our recovery process that we start creating a lifestyle that allows us to consistently get these spiritual needs met. In early recovery, our focus is often on just staying sober. But over time, we realize that we need to create a life that we want to be sober for. Depending on where we start, we may feel daunted by such a task. So, we start small. We make commitments and keep them. We make coffee. We set up chairs. We make phone calls and return them. We become faithful in the small things so that we can handle the big things.

WEDNESDAY, November 11th

WORD OF THE DAY: RESPECT

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

We cannot demand respect from anyone in our lives if we first do not learn to respect ourselves. We respect ourselves by telling the truth. We respect ourselves by honoring our commitments and keeping our word. We respect ourselves by setting boundaries. We respect ourselves by drinking water, eating nutritious food, and moving our bodies daily. We respect ourselves by getting enough sleep and honoring our need for rest. We respect ourselves by showing up to work and doing the best we can each day. Love is the cart, and respect is the horse that pulls it. In what ways can I improve my self-respect today?

THURSDAY, November 12th

WORD OF THE DAY: TEACHABLE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

As Kermit the Frog says, it ain’t easy being green. However, it is fundamental to our recovery that we remain teachable. The moment we think we are experts in our own recovery, we are in grave danger. Staying humble is hard. Our egos don’t particularly enjoy it. Yet learning to listen and remaining teachable are the building blocks of spiritual growth. Where in my heart do I need to let go and open up to being taught something new?

FRIDAY, November 13th

WORD OF THE DAY: UNFLAPPABLE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

If we adopt an optimistic spirit, we will be unflappable. If we stay grounded in our purpose, we will be unflappable. If we practice self-respect, we will be unflappable. If we remain humble and teachable, we will be unflappable. Unflappable does not mean that we stop feeling all of our feelings, or that we are never angered by injustice. To be unflappable means that when crises happen, we can remain calm and do the next right thing.
