Sober Not Mature Podcast – Dr. Sarah Co-Signs Our BS and Takes Us Out of CrazyTown

Sober Not Mature is a newish podcast that shares recovery stories and other unscripted fun. Basically, they take all of those things we are all thinking about and actually talk about them out loud and unfiltered. With two sober hosts at the helm, Bill is the CEO – Chief Egotistical Officer and Mike is the COO – Chief Obscenity Officer. Those titles alone ought to tell you everything you need to know about the irreverent tone this recovery podcast takes.

Episode 72 Show Notes:

This week we talked with Dr. Sarah Michaud (Author “Co – Crazy”) Website www.DrSarahmichaud.com YouTube – Leaving CrazyTown

“Co – Crazy begins with a chronicle of growing up in a family with alcoholism that eventually led to a harrowing journey and downward spiral into drug and alcohol addiction. Her inspiring recovery is deeply authentic, and Michaud’s vivid descriptions are both heartbreaking and illuminating.”

We talked about her book, about her YouTube channel and about her 40 years of sobriety and then we talked about everything else.

She was a wonderful guest, we had a great time, a very engaging conversation and we will have her back again. Seriously, you just need to listen.

Enjoy the episode.

My Review of Episode 72

This is the perfect episode to plug in for a long car ride. I was driving home from my parents today with my top off and the sound up. And by “top off” I mean my gun metal, four door Jeep Wrangler, not my chest. Get your mind out of the gutter! I had a 90-minute drive head of me in the beautiful Pacific NW summer sun, which is the exact length of this un-edited episode. That’s how Bill and Mike roll – unedited and tell it how it is.

Dr. Sarah was, of course, great, but admittedly I’m a little biased as she is also a fellow Sober Curator. Your soul might be broken if her laugh doesn’t at the very least make you crack a smile. The Sober Not Mature podcast recently got on my radar when they threw me some playful sober snark this past June on the gram due to an article I posted for Father’s Day about male hosted sober podcasts – a list they did not make. (You can read that one HERE.)

My bad fellas! I hadn’t clocked your podcast, but I have now. The intro to this podcast alone is enough sober entertainment to take me through the rest of my weekend. If you listen and don’t find it funny, go ahead and just turn the episode off. You don’t get their humor, which means you can stop reading this too. We’re not your people – move along and thanks for stopping by.

But if you’re still here and can handle the brass tacks, dark humor, and authenticity that Bill and Mike bring to the mic, this is a podcast to add into your sober rotation. An unedited episode like this one took twists and turns and even had remnant fireworks going off in the background. (Which, by the way, my two Boston Terriers, Roxie and Bella, riding shotgun did not appreciate.) I laughed so hard that I had a face boner. And I really enjoyed the knowledge of working a 12-step program, referencing the big book, and speaking from the position of long-term recovery. Sarah has nearly 40 years, and Bill and Mike are twinning at 13.

These three had great podcast chemistry and did not hold back any punches on sharing their opinions about the recovery landscape based on their own personal experiences. My kinda people for sure. So, give them a listen and if you also like what you hear, like, follow and subscribe.
