Sober in the City hits the East Coast this Sept 7-10 in Portland, Maine!  Following four transformative experiences held in Long Beach, Sacramento, Austin and Palm Springs, Sober in the City has turned into a nationwide movement where people can experience a luxury social event with everything but the buzz. 

Whether going out on the town for dinner, a movie, live music, or just catching up with friends – you know that none of it requires alcohol. Sober in the City shows attendees exactly what an alcohol-free gathering feels like — MAGIC.

Friday, September 8th

  • 3:30p – 4;30p: You certainly won’t be bored! Will you be nervous? Maybe. But you assuredly won’t be alone! (Leave the lone wolf at the home office.) In fact, if you do travel solo, make sure to arrive Friday afternoon in time for our “solo social.” 

  • 5p – 7p: Immediately following will be time to meet and greet. Enjoy a Maine baked potato bar, charcuterie, NA beverages.  Join Robbie Shaw and Patrick Balsley, @champagneproblemspodcast crew for a lively discussion. They will be interviewing Laura McKowen, author of two bestselling books, “We are the Luckiest” and “Push Off From Here”, and founder of The Luckiest Club community.

  • Also in attendance Friday evening: Tammy Valicenti, a 20+ years psychotherapist specializing in EMDR trauma therapy and founder of Transformation Solution.  Tammy is currently authoring two books and collaborating with international advocates to bring EMDR to indigenous women in the Ecuadorian Amazon.  And Kevin Mikolazyk, former 10-year Executive Director of the Herren Project and now Director of Business Development at Guardian Recovery Network.  Kevin has spent the last 10+ years efficiently and effectively assisting individuals and families access quality substance use care.  

  • 7:30p – 8:30p: Later, dance, connect and feel to the rhythm of your soul in an ecstatic dance led by Danny & Helenita Frounfelkner (Founders of @sipple) Until 10:00 p.m. Need to rest? Head for the barn. Want to hang and connect? Stay for coffee and chocolate!

Saturday, September 9th

  • 7a – 9a: Wake up refreshed and primed to see the beauty of Portland, Maine. After stopping in for breakfast, you’ll have a bunch of options.

10a – 3p brings you lots of options:

  • Ever done Astro yoga? Join a discussion re: sober sex. Take a photography walk, a journaling class, balance your chakras with an afternoon sound bath.

  • Are you a coach, author or influencer in the sober arena? Join our Thought Leaders Networking session and make new friends, build connections, collaborate and exchange ideas to enhance your AF business.

  • Want to connect, talk and share in a relaxed setting?  Join the ReFrame Team who will facilitate a Sharing Circle.  I’m Alcohol Free!  Now What?

  • And if you’re so inclined, join Lindsay to create video shorts of your Sober in the City Maine experience.  We love spreading the word that alcohol is not necessary to have the time of your life!

4:15 p.m. Ferry to Main Event

  • The main event will start early afternoon as we’ll catch the ferry, in true Maine fashion, out on Casco Bay, destination: Peaks Island. We’ll have a chance to take a few photos as the sun sets. Our four-course dinner will be topped off with a few signature mocktails. Gluten-Free and Vegan meals will be served family style, along with a seafood and chicken option.  

  • Danny & Helenita Founfelkner will share with us as our keynote couple during dinner.  These two co-founders of the first and only NA bottle shop in Texas share a passion for the non-alcoholic movement, mindfulness, and connection through community.

  • 9:45 p.m. Ferry Back to PortlandEarlier departures available

  • 7a – 9a: Stop in to grab coffee and a classic continental breakfast before hitting the road!
