Rescue Club Rescues Their Reputation With This Classic Brew

We are joined once again by this yacht club looking can and this brewery called Rescue Club. If you recall from previous reviews (you guys read them all, right? RIGHT?!?), I had mixed feelings about their IPA, and by mixed feelings, I mean I simply didn’t like it. This week, however, they are making a comeback with a classic style that is sure to tingle your testes and ogle your ovaries.

This week, we are drinking Pils by Rescue Club. You likely guessed that Pils is short for pilsner, a classic beer style that very few non-alcoholic breweries have as an option, but something so similar in style to the macrobrews out there like Bud Zero, Heineken 0.0, and many German NAs, that many breweries may not see the need in the marketplace for it. However, unlike some of those “light” beers, a pilsner, if brewed right, is a classic barstool beer that should pronounce the flavors of the brewing process while keeping it light and crisp.

How Does It Pour?

Rescue Club pops its top with a crack and a release of that aroma I was hoping for. The German hops and roasted malt scents fill the air and release even more when you get to the pour. The beer is also a classic pilsner in look, with its crystal-clear clarity and slightly dark golden hue. The head is light and bright white and compliments the color below it. Rescue Club is LL Cool J, and don’t call it a comeback.

How Does It Taste?

The flavor profile hits just right with a malt-forward flavor and a slight aftertaste of some sort of German hop. It’s subtle, but it’s there. Rescue Club knows what they’re doing with this pilsner and provides a perfect light mouth feel as it swishes around your word hole. The finish is crisp and clean, as you would expect from a pilsner, and our judges make a decision.

Untappd gives Pils by Rescue Club a 3.6 out of 5. This is a pretty spot-on rating. I enjoyed this and would buy it again. The non-alcoholic brewery only offers two beers, their IPA and this Pils, but this is the only one worthwhile, in my opinion, so if you see it in the wild, pick it up and give it a try! It will surely help you remember the joys of malt variety and will likely fill-sner your pilsner.
