Happy Every Hour: Parch + Daybreaker Sunrise Supersonic

Happy Every Hour NA Beverage Reviews

Due to my love of creating craft cocktails, I tend to avoid items in the ready-to-drink category. However, the convenience of these beverages is definitely a draw. Just pour. So, I ventured to try a non-alcoholic tea elixir. This one is a collaboration between Parch and Daybreaker and is known as Sunrise Supersonic (yeah, say that five times really fast). I always want to try beverages in their intended form so I chilled the can and tried this one neat, on ice, and then warm with milk. So versatile, eh? This tea elixir is combined with turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger and contains the adaptogenic reishi mushroom and lemon balm.

This is a bit of a departure from Parch’s typical offerings, which are non-alcoholic agave cocktails. The Sunrise Supersonic is a collaboration with Daybreaker, a woman-owned business that creates dance party events for the non-alcoholic community. Daybreaker refers to Sunrise Supersonic as “Daybreaker Disco Tonic.” Good morning to you, too!

My first sips of this elixir were in its cold form. There’s a definite hit of turmeric, which has a distinctive flavor. If you do not like the flavor of turmeric, then this beverage is probably not for you. After the cold test, I could definitely imagine how this would be a comfort drink warmed up with milk. I stirred it into a mug with ¾ warm milk and ¼ Sunrise Supersonic. While I liked the comfort of the warm flavors, the turmeric (and possibly other spices) separated in the milk and a bit in my mouth. I had hoped it would be smoother and more soothing.

While this was my first experience with Parch, I am certainly intrigued to try their other non-alcoholic cocktails. They have a very strong graphic brand and have been conscientious about avoiding any of the major allergens in their products. Their focus is to create a plant-based beverage that can be an alternative to alcohol and is inspired by the biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert. I look forward to exploring more of their offerings and the unique flavors they bring to the table!
