Malicious Women Candle Co. Is A Company That Was Founded Out Of Deep Pain, But Has Since Flourished, Creating Deep Healing & Bringing Light Into The Lives Of Many
Malicious Women Candle Co. candles will draw you in with their witty slogans and comical phrases, but what’s at the core of these candles has so much more depth and weight. Whether you visit their store front in Snohomish, WA or check out them out online, Malicious Women Candle Co. candles will light you up and warm your soul.
How it all started
Lacie Marsh Carroll founded this company, infusing it with sass and snark after she was given the gift of desperation. Back in 2016, Lacie lost her dear friend Laura Caudle, who lost her battle with depression and took her own life. In her own words in the About section of the website, Lacie talks about what a fierce warrior Laura was and how hard it was for everyone involved during the time of this tragedy.
That isn’t the only tragedy that Lacie faced. While her heart was still breaking over the loss of her dear friend, Lacie’s father fell off of a ladder and suffered a severe brain injury. When it rains it pours, and the tragedies just kept on pouring in Lacie’s life. Her sister was hit by a farm truck on her motorcycle and her daughter, who was serving in the Navy at that time, was hospitalized. Lacie broke.
After a few weeks, Lacie’s husband and therapist both encouraged Lacie to seek help and find a hobby to keep her hands and her mind busy. Lacie decided she wanted to make a candle that she could light in honor of her friend Laura. Once she started pouring candles, it was if new life poured out of her. She couldn’t stop pouring candles. She devoted her entire focus to learning how to pour candles, how to blend scents and testing hundreds of candles. If she wasn’t sleeping she was melting wax in a crock pot & pouring. She was determined to make the perfect candle to honor her friend.
Following her obsessive candle pouring, her therapist suggested she throw a party. She claims she had a full-blown meltdown at the suggestion. What in the actual F-word was there to celebrate? Embracing her rebellious side, she decided to host a shit show. It’s been candle making history ever since.
What’s in the name?
The name “Malicious Women” came from years of conversations with Laura. They would talk about their days and tell each other what they should have said in shitty situations if only they were a little more malicious. It was their running joke. The chandelier is for their mutual love of chandeliers. The last time Lacie saw Laura, they sang Sia’s “Chandelier” at the top of their lungs while driving on a sunny day. The type font on the labels honors Laura’s love of old typewriters and the written word. The snark…well that is for both of us.
Mission for a cause
Lacie has chosen the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as a way to honor Laura and her battle. In her own words…”We need to help others affected by suicide and to fund programs to help them with grief and guilt. We need programs for families and friends” Lacie goes on to explain she didn’t even know there were programs out there that could help her. In fact, she didn’t even know she needed help. She felt so alone in my grief.
