Long-Term Recovery Matters. Full stop.

One thing I love about living in long-term recovery is making it through the harrowing challenges and my many, many mistakes. Some people say time doesn’t matter between drinks, but I’m here to share that time is a measurement of personal growth without drinking or blacking out of my life.

Everyone is living life, and everyone has choices.

When choosing a life of sobriety, things start to look and feel very differently. Like getting married and not drinking that glass of champagne, or having sex for the first-time stone, cold sober, feeling it all! It’s ALL REAL and scary – but in a good way.

This week, over on the Now What Society Podcast, Tamar and I have a new series digging into lessons we’ve learned and experienced while living an alcohol-free life; with over 36 years of continuous sobriety, we have many mistakes and tips to share with you.

Here’s a quick overview of the first six topics we discuss in our new sober series:

1. How to Navigate Triggers and Cravings: Strategies for Staying Sober in Times of Stress! (Like Now!)

2. Building a Support System: The Importance of Community in Long-Term Sobriety

3. Finding Purpose and Meaning in Sobriety: How to Create a Fulfilling Life Without Compromise

4. The Power of Mindfulness: How to Stay Present and Connected in Sobriety (Lane’s favorite topic.)

5. How to Overcoming Shame and Guilt: Drop Negative Emotions and Move Forward

6. Creating a Sobriety Toolkit: Strategies for Coping with Urges and Staying on Track

Keep it in perspective!

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE practical advice and insightful perspectives –  I listen to those who have walked before me. I hired a business coach when I was launching a company, I grabbed a nutritionist when I was early on in my pregnancy, and I’ve also hired a mentor to support me with my new venture because I want practical experience and someone who has gone before me. These mentors know what obstacles, (both the highs and lows) are ahead of me …for whatever path I’m walking.

Tune in!

We hope that you will tune into this series and gain those same insightful perspectives allowing us to be your mentor to a life well lived in long-term recovery!

I’ll be back with six more topics and ideas around moving beyond the humdrum sober life that we all fall into sooner or later. Tune into the show and thank you for sharing it with a friend.
