Happy Every Hour With Justin Lamb: Coming To You From The Land Of Potatoes – Atmos Brewing Double Hopped IPA
Atmos Brewing comes to us from the great potato state, Idaho. They have been brewing small-batch non-alcoholic beers for about five years, but their canning and distribution just got kicked off in mid-2020. Atmos currently offers three varieties of NA beer and one hoppy seltzer water. This week, we’re trying Kora, their NA Double Hopped IPA.
How Does it Pour?
At first glance, Atmos Brewing’s Kora pours from its delightful 16oz can with a bit of foam on it. The head builds strong, even with a perfect pour. I know this because I pour things perfectly. I am a master pourer. Hop and floral aromas bounce off the top of the head as the bubbles die down and allow for the first sip to be tasted. The color is lighter than you may expect with a Double Hopped IPA, and the head is a stark white, as opposed to a creamy head that typically accompanies a heavy-hopped copper treat.
How Does it Taste?
The taste is surprising in the way that it’s not what you’d expect. Atmos Brewing lists Kora as a Double Hopped IPA, but the hoppiness starts off a little light. This is complemented by the light mouth feel, as well, instead of the heavy full hop flavor, you may have been thinking you were going to get. The NA beer hits the back of your throat and pulls out its floral and citrus notes right before going down your gullet to the mole hole.
Overall, the beer drinks nicely, and its 16oz size is perfect for all of those collectible pint glasses you’re still holding onto from the Burger King Disney run in 1994. Their distribution is still new, but I keep seeing them pop up more and more, so talk to your local NA beer guy or visit Atmos Brewing online and check out what they have to offer. Perhaps you’ll be a fan of their Double Hopped IPA, or maybe you’ll find a gem in one of their other beers. Either way, don’t rely on Untappd’s 3.22 out of 5. Go make a rating for yourself. I rate all of you readers a 10 out of 10.
