BrewDog Punk AF Is A Traditional Alcoholic Brewery Leading The Way In Non-Alcoholic Beers
BrewDog comes to us from Scotland, and while they are a traditional alcoholic brewery, they are leading the way in non-alcoholic beers. Just last year, in 2020, they opened their first non-alcoholic bar in London, featuring a whopping 15 taps. In addition to their UK locations, BrewDog can be found in Columbus, OH, and Indianapolis, IN serving up draft versions of their popular NA options. Anyone who enjoys the simplicity of sitting at the bar and enjoying a draft beer while still celebrating the alcohol-free lifestyle will truly appreciate this option!
Punk As F$%*
While BrewDog is definitely Punk As F$%*, the AF in Punk AF stands for Alcohol-Free. Punk AF is the alcohol-free version of BrewDog’s signature light India Pale Ale, Punk IPA. This brew pours clear and clean. The crisp sound of the light lager-looking beer hits easy in the glass and provides very little head, and even the white head that comes up quickly dissipates.
How Does It Pour?
The light and crisp look of Punk AF from BrewDog doesn’t stop there. The flavor is just as light and crisp. If you like hops, but nothing too heavy, perhaps even a session ale, this is the beer for you. Reminiscent of Lagunita’s Hoppy Refresher (a hop flavored sparkling water), this is light with a hint of hops. A non-alcoholic treat that can be enjoyed all day long and is surely ready to hit the spot after a day of yard work or just chilling in the sun around the pool.
How Does It Taste?
Users on Untappd give this brew a 2.92 out of 5. I would have to go even higher if I rated it and say 3.5, probably. It just depends on what you’re looking for at the time. Sometimes the lighter feel and look can turn away some hop heads, but if you still want the hops without the heaviness, it’s a great choice from a brewery that really knows what they’re doing.
Due to their already wide distribution, this beer can be found in many more places than some of the other NA craft brews you find here. You can go to BrewDog’s website or call your local store to ask what they carry and see if you can get this there. In addition to BrewDog’s Punk AF, you’ll find a number of other beers sure to be reviewed here, including Nanny State, Hazy AF, Faux Fox, and more. Whether you’re looking for a stout, a sour, or a juicy pale ale, there is a wide selection.
