Riverine Non-Alcoholic Spirit By Amass

Earlier this week I chatted with my friend Katherine, who is new to the alcohol-free mocktail game, about a new zero-proof product called Riverine Non-Alcoholic Spirit by Amass. What is this mysterious brand and why had I not heard about it before? How did Katherine beat me to the alcohol-free botanical punch?

Knowing her #ADDTOCART order had already been placed, I patiently waited to hear the results. Thankfully Katherine knows that I have no patience. Only two days later, my iPhone started to vibe with delicious, mouth-watering details. But first, we bring you the official fancy description.

RIVERINE NON-ALCOHOLIC SPIRIT BY AMASS – THE FANCY DESCRIPTION

Riverine is a refined non-alcoholic spirit that encapsulates the lush landscape of the Pacific Northwest’s temperate rainforest. Distilled with a regional blend of botanicals, it takes its cues from culinary practice for a distinct finish. Coniferous notes from Juniper are brightened by Sumac, Sorrel, Lemon Peel, and Apple, while Thyme, Mint, and Parsley lend a rich herbal earthiness.

Each botanical is individually distilled in a proprietary hydrosteam distillation process to extract essential oils for a crisp and evergreen flavor profile reminiscent of the towering firs and coastal mountains of British Columbia.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Riverine offers a verdant flavor profile fit for an array of non-alcoholic cocktails or sipped simply on the rocks with a splash of tonic.

THE STORY

At first sip, towering trees sway in the canopy while leafy herbs like sorrel, mint, and thyme grow deep in the damp earth. Mist envelopes the mossy peaks as marbled murrelets swoop in between thickets and streams under soft lemon light, nesting in the treetops when the sun sets west. On the bed of the forest floor, pines and needles doze off, dotted with raindrops. Feel your taste buds tingle as the crisp cool of terpenes grows sharp in the haze.

RIVERINE NON-ALCOHOLIC SPIRIT BY AMASS – THE NOT SO FANCY BUT TELL YOU HOW IT REALLY IS DESCRIPTION

In the words of my friend Katherine:

“It was packaged really simply and beautifully. Smell Test: This smells like the forest…and also like…a shower?”

“Yes, definitely like I want this smell in my shower. It has a super layered fragrance. Earthy, floral, with a sweet almost maple finish.”

Naked Taste Test: “Okay wow. Nope. Wait…maybe? Is that tea? Soap? What am I tasting?? Wait. I’m getting it now. Okay, I see where this is going.”

(My friend Katherine gives amazing play by play stories, even via text. That girl has the gift of gab and I am here for it!)

“Yep, the layers are there. It doesn’t have a traditional bite/zing but when you give it a swish it lights up all different spots on the palette. It’s super layered and is gonna be a great mixer.”

Katherine’s on the fly mocktail recipe:

  • 1 part Amass Riverine Non-Alcoholic Spirit

  • 3-4 parts diet Bundaberg Ginger Beer

  • 3-4 muddled mint leaves

  • Spoon of lime juice

  • Spoon of lemon juice

  • 3 spoons of simple syrup

“and HOLY FCK!!! Girl. It is SO fcking BOMB.”

More notes from Katherine…

“It tastes like a full on mule with a hint of earthy mojito vibes. It’s wonderful. We tired variations on the ingredients. More lime and simply syrup really light it up. It would probably be great with bitters, but we don’t have any. It has just enough bitterness and layered flavor to make you naturally slow down and really sip the flavor.”

It was then, at this moment, that Katherine and I simultaneously text each other the message below… great minds think alike!

More notes from Katherine:

“It was good with just ginger beer alone too. But way more fun with the citrus, mint, and simply syrup. I used monk fruit for my simple syrup so the drink is sugar free with only one carb per serving. Nice if you want to not have a hella sugary beverage.”

Sober Curator Pro Tip:

We’ve covered Bundberg Brewed Diet Ginger Beer recently for our Happy Every Hour Section. It comes from the land down under and is made with the finest, Australia grown ginger and sugar cane and it is the real deal! You can read all about it here.
