Camp Fest: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Music, Arts, and Community

Excitement is in the air as Camp Fest, a vibrant festival curated by Lavanda, beckons Boston’s Queer Community to The Commons at the Parkman Bandstand on June 28th from 12 pm to 4 pm. Emma Whitney, the director and founder of Lavanda, invites all to immerse themselves in a day filled with creativity, inclusivity, and connection.

Camp Fest promises an array of engaging experiences for attendees, including captivating performances by seven local LGBTQ+ musicians and bands. The event will also feature five to seven vendor booths showcasing unique offerings from local LGBTQ+ sellers, ranging from vintage clothing to upcycled treasures, pottery, prints, crochet items, and more.

Beyond the music and shopping delights, guests can indulge in free coloring activities and explore various crafts available for purchase. Lavanda’s ethos of creating alcohol-free spaces for the queer community shines through in every detail of Camp Fest, fostering an environment of genuine connection and hands-on engagement.

As the brainchild of Emma Whitney, Lavanda stands as a beacon of support for LGBTQ+ artists and a haven for queer individuals seeking authentic self-expression. Since its inception in the fall of 2023, Lavanda has been dedicated to providing a platform for queer voices to shine brightly, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional alcohol-centric events.

Camp Fest embodies a unique blend of summer-camp-meets-camp-aesthetic vibes, encouraging attendees to dress up, pack a picnic, apply sunblock, and stay hydrated throughout the festivities. While Lavanda will provide shade tents and water for guests, preparation for a warm summer day is key to fully enjoying the experience.

Visit Lavanda’s table at Camp Fest to enjoy FREE themed coloring pages, peruse craft kits for purchase, grab tote bags, friendship bracelets, and more. Dive into the spirit of celebration, community, and creativity at Camp Fest, where every moment promises to be infused with the essence of LGBTQ+ pride and unity.

For a detailed lineup of performers, vendors, sponsors, and supporters, visit Lavanda’s website and mark your calendars for this not-to-be-missed celebration of music, arts, and queer camaraderie. Join us on June 28th at The Commons as we come together to revel in the magic of Camp Fest!
