Calling All Sober Artists in Recovery! Join the Fresh A.I.R. Festival

Hey there, art-loving sober warriors!

Ready to celebrate your sobriety and creativity in one fabulous event? Look no further. Artspiration and the Teetotal Initiative are rolling out the red carpet for their first-ever Fresh A.I.R. (Art in Recovery) Festival in Pittsburgh, PA, and they want YOU to be part of it!

What’s the Buzz About?

Imagine this—two days dedicated to showcasing the incredible talents of artists in recovery. Held during National Recovery Month in September 2024, this free, family-friendly event will light up Atithi Studios in Sharpsburg, PA, with artwork from novice to professional artists who’ve walked the road to recovery.

Event Deets:

  • Dates:

  • Saturday, September 28, 2024 – 6 to 9 PM

  • Sunday, September 29, 2024 – 12 to 3 PM

  • Location:

  • Atithi Studios, 1020 N. Canal St., Sharpsburg, PA 15215

Why Should You Apply?

The Fresh A.I.R. Festival isn’t just about art—it’s about celebrating transformation, growth, and the sheer joy of newfound life. Plus, it’s a killer opportunity to:

  • Showcase and sell your artwork (Oh yes, you keep 100% of the sales!)

  • Network with fellow creatives and community members

  • Break down the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery

  • Enjoy zero-proof cocktails, acoustic music, and more!

Got Art? Here’s How to Submit:

They’re on the lookout for up to 3 original 2D or 3D artworks from each artist. Think painting, photography, collage, sculpture, drawing, textile arts, ceramics—you name it. Have a special theme in mind? While they love all themes, pieces resonating with transformation, growth, and other recovery-related ideas will get brownie points.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Who can apply? If you’re a novice or a pro who identifies as being in recovery from substance use/addiction, you’re in. Preference goes to Pittsburgh locals.

  • What can you submit? Up to 3 original artworks (2D pieces should be ready to hang; we’ll work with 3D artists on display needs).

  • How to apply? Fill in the submission form for 1-3 pieces, and upload up to 2 photos for each piece.

Important Dates:

  • Submissions open: July 1st, 2024

  • Submission deadline: Sunday, September 1st, 2024, at 11:59 PM

  • Notification of acceptance: By Friday, September 6th, 2024

Selected artists will drop off their masterpieces at Atithi Studios during designated times in the week of September 23rd. Don’t worry, they’ll coordinate the details.
