Better Without – The First App For Discovering Low & No Alcohol Drinks Just launched!

The Better Without App claims to be a place for happy drinkers. We took the app for a test drive and we’ll let you know what you can expect. The world’s first app for discovering low and no alcohol drinks. Inspiring those who are sober-curious or not drinking at all.

A place for happy drinkers

Founded in 2020, Better Without was created to support the fast-growing community of people who are choosing to moderate their drinking or not drink at all. Mindfulness and wellness are a huge trend – taking care of our physical, mental, and social well-being and becoming more aware of the choices we make that guide us to a healthier happier lifestyle.

My Review of the Better Without App:

The Better Without App is coming to us from the UK because all good alcohol-free things seem to start there. It’s easy to download and available on the App Store and Google Play. Upon opening the app, you will be greeted with happy blue and yellow colored squares that allow you to favorite the beverage types that you like best. Seems easy enough!

I set up my profile page with a headshot, a short About Me section, the country I’m in, and a place for my interests. In the essence of time, I kept it brief and just added it to my website. You can then see tiny little glasses emojis with red x’s (for thank you no thank you) and green check marks for yes, please! I like this option because I was never a beer drinker prior to getting sober, so even if someone offers me an alcohol-free option now, the taste of hops or even pale ail just doesn’t do it for me. Thank you, next!

Check Out Each Beverage Section

I encourage you to check out each section, even if it’s not a section you think you are interested in. I was surprised to see many brands I’d never heard of before, which is always interesting to me. I’ve been growing my at-home mocktail bar and I enjoy adding and trying out new products. The funny thing about my mocktail bar, sometimes it collects dust! (Note, this would have NEVER happened with my at-home bar before I gave up booze) Life is busy and I don’t have time to create a fun and fruity mocktail every day. But some days, it sure is nice to end the day with a flavorful, well-crafted beverage, in a pretty glass, with a nice garnish, and have a little me party.

  • Beer

  • Cider

  • Alternative Brews

  • Red Wine

  • White Wine

  • Rose Wine

  • Dessert Wine

  • Sparkling Wine

  • Spirits

  • Pre-Mixed and Mocktails

  • Live Sodas and Kombucha

  • Mixers

Let’s take the Sparkling Wine Collection as an example. You will see a brand listed with an image of the product, that links to a profile. Each profile gives you a description and goes over some of the basics like %ABV, Calories, Product Size, Ingredients, and Food Pairing. You can add the brand to your Wish List or Rate it! with a review. It will also tell you where you can purchase the product, either directly or through a bottle service like Better Rhodes.

In fact, there is a place to enter your zip code to find the closest venue to you. This feature is not active yet, but I can hardly wait until it is! As the Better Without App continues to get more built out, this will be a feature I will look forward to the most. How cool will it be to be able to see local stores I can swing by to pick up an item or even a local bar or restaurant that is offering that product? Right now, if I want anything cool I pretty much have to order it online.

Wish List and Reviews

Currently, my Wish List is 57 deep and I have reviewed 1 drink. (Gruvi Dry Secco, a personal fav) This unlocked one badge. I assume the more reviews you do and orders you place, the more badges you earn. And, I also assume, the more badges you earn will probably work out to future discounts or access to other cool features. There is also a notifications/news section that serves up content.

Overall, I would say that this App offers all of the right ideas, it just needs more content (reviews and blog posts) and more product options to be a must-use app that works its way to the main page of my iPhone for frequent use. Given the booze-free boom that is upon us, it’s only a matter of time.

We know we mix a mean mocktail. HAPPY EVERY HOUR will keep you up to date on the latest and greatest trends in the world of mocktails and zero-proof beverages. TRIGGER WARNING: People in early sobriety may want to proceed with caution. Please hydrate responsibly … because drunk never looks good.
