Five Reasons to Visit Autocamp in Yosemite

I love to travel; I love sober travel, especially as a mother. My son and I recently explored Yosemite for the second time, and this year we opted to stay at Autocamp in Midpines. Let me first say that making a campfire is not easy, and my Girlscout years have been erased!  I suggest brushing up on your fire-making skills and packing plenty of matches before heading to Yosemite.

Autocamp has great glamping accommodations and is both family and single-mingle-friendly.  This is not a DRY camping site; there is a cool clubhouse lounge area that serves all the folks who do drink, beer and wine, so if you have a family member who drinks, that’s a win; you won’t have to pack that extra cooler!

The Airstreams are pure delight for what you are paying, white pressed, fine thread count sheets, absolutely comfortable beds, streaming hot showers, a running toilet for anyone who doesn’t want to use this and a microwave that is also a convection oven.  Because I’m the adventurous type and I want my son to see that I can cook on an open flame I DID IT.  I was able to make pancakes on the fire the night before, I wrapped a peach in aluminum foil, placed it in the hot coals, and indulged in the morning for breakfast, so good!

Now, are you thinking, what is the point, Lane?  Are you even camping?  Yes, for me this was great, I’m outside in nature, sleeping under the stars and a full moon that beamed into the ceiling window above my bed, it worked for me, and I’m happy to share that if you gave them a try, you might like it as well!
