Inspiration and Recovery Resources from Jenny Teeters, Author of Every Day is a New Day: A Story of Faith
It is such a pleasure to talk with sober people in recovery who bravely share their truth in stories of addiction. I was fortunate to spend time getting to know Jenny Teeters and learning about what inspires her to write. In her new book, Every Day is a New Day: A Story of Faith, Jenny Teeters walks us through the 12 steps using examples from her own life and how she applies each one in recovery.

Tony Hawk has been Sober for Over 20 Years
Tony Hawk has been sober for over 20 years. He achieved sobriety in 2003, which he discussed in a recent conversation with fellow skateboarder Andrew Reynolds. Hawk reflected on his journey, noting that he had to navigate the challenges of substance use early in his career but ultimately chose to focus on skateboarding instead of indulging in drugs and alcohol.
Hawk's commitment to sobriety has been a significant aspect of his life, contributing to his success and longevity in the sport of skateboarding. "It gave me a pause because I was like I don't want to do something that will make me skate worse," Hawk stated in an interview when discussing his recovery.

The Journey of Sobriety: A Pilgrimage Through Celtic Spirituality
Sobriety is often described as a journey—a path we walk day by day, step by step. It’s a journey that’s deeply personal, often challenging, and profoundly transformative. For many of us, this path is not just about abstaining from alcohol; it’s about finding a new way of living, a deeper connection to ourselves, and a more authentic relationship with the world around us. This journey of sobriety can be likened to a pilgrimage, a concept central to Celtic spirituality.

SOBRIETY IN THE CITY
Standing Still with Catherine Just’s Art Show at Bendix Building in DTLA
I am not the kind of person to attend a still art show. I appreciate fashion shows and moving art. Maybe because I move constantly and don’t slow down enough to take it all in. So, when I take the elevator up to the 5th floor at the Bendix building in DTLA, I am surprised at how moved I am standing still.

Getting Naked with Ben Fallaci: An Interview with the Writer of Shower Chair
Last month, I had the pleasure of attending a preview of a play called Shower Chair before Ben Fallaci and his producers took it to the Edinburgh Fringe. The play is an autobiographical performance that charts the protagonist’s coming of age in Cape Cod and the influence that substances and problematic friendships had on his journey.
