Rob Lowe Surprised his Son, John, with his 5-Year Chip

Rob Lowe, one of the internet’s favorite Dad’s, shared a story on the Drew Barrymore show last week that, "on May 10th this year, I was able to get a 34-year chip of sobriety from my son," Rob remarked. "I can't even begin to tell you what that level of gratitude, thankfulness, appreciation, and love feels like."

Rob then surprised his son, John Owen, with his five-year sobriety chip on Thursday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. The father son duo embraced with Rob going on to say, "It's going to sound insane but one of the great unexpected gifts is I get to share this amazing journey where the gifts of living a life of recovery and the joy that comes with that and the fun, forget the health of it, the fun, the rewards of it. It is one of my favourite things, one of my favourite hallmarks of my relationship with Johnny." Reminding us all the recovery truly is the gift that gives on giving.

Found: a non-alcoholic white wine I actually like—just in time for summer! After trying many duds, Seaglass Sauvignon Blanc from California's central coast finally hit the mark with its balanced, melon-and-peach flavor. It's not too sweet, not too dry, and best of all, it's made by experts who know what they're doing, unlike my failed DIY attempt at dealcoholizing wine. Cheers to finding the perfect alcohol-free sip for warm evenings!

Cry Baby, Cry by Jason Mayo

“Cry Baby, Cry” is a moving essay by Jason Mayo, a recovery coach who is a newcomer to The Sober Curator. He remarks on how a quote in his early recovery moved him deeply:

“More than most people, the alcoholic leads a double life. He is very
much the actor. To the outer world he presents his stage character.
This is the one he likes his fellows to see. He wants to enjoy a
certain reputation but knows in his heart he doesn’t deserve it.”
