Jack Harlow Gave Up Drinking Alcohol Because He Wants to “Feel Everything”

Jack Harlow, at 24, has embraced sobriety, giving up alcohol last year and focusing on a healthier lifestyle. He shared with Rolling Stone that his reasons for quitting was because he is “sick of waking up with a dry throat, sick of feeling bloated, I’m sick of the decisions I make on it,” he told the magazine. "I'm in my well-oiled-machine era. Because I can see my future right in front of me. And I feel there's so many people counting on me outside of myself."

Harlow, who had previously spoken about his sober journey on Instagram in August 2021, emphasizes his commitment to personal and professional growth. “I want to live the richest life I can,” Harlow remarked, talking about his ambition. “I just want to feel everything that I could possibly feel. I'm not satisfied with living, like, average life."

Celebrities like Bella Hadid and Adele have also advocated for alcohol-free lifestyles. Harlow now prioritizes weightlifting, portion control, and a balanced life, aiming for an extraordinary existence.

Sober and Thriving

Before I got sober, my life revolved around alcohol, from work events to weekends with friends, which made the transition to sobriety feel terrifying and boring. Fast forward 14 years, and I found THRIVE, a recovery community center that offers fun, alcohol-free activities and support, showing that life in recovery can be engaging and fulfilling.

The Hidden Cost of Rigid Beliefs on LGBTQ+ Loved Ones

A genetic predisposition to addiction and the struggle to accept my true identity led me to spend 22 years battling alcoholism and forcing myself into heterosexual relationships. It wasn't until I was 46, ten years into sobriety, that I found the courage to explore my sexuality, supported by friends and family, highlighting the critical need for unconditional love and acceptance in overcoming deeply ingrained beliefs and promoting authentic, sober lives.

Season 2 of Stigma Smashing Hit “The Bear” Continues to Focus on Al-Anon and Delivers the Fun in Dysfunction with Stellar Cameo Performances and a Killer Soundtrack

The Bear is finally open for business and gets 5 stars all around. I did not think it was possible, but I love Season 2 even more than season 1.  While Carmy is still the main character, Season 2 spreads the love and fills us in on more of the backstories of the family. We also start to see how the Berzattos absolutely qualify for Al-Anon. By portraying real life issues on the small screen, The Bear helps smash the stigma surrounding addiction, mental illness and getting help. This honest, chaotic ride is packed with major recovery themes, volatile family dynamics and cliffhangers just begging for Season 3. Season 3 review coming soon!

WHAT A TRIP
Getting to Know Tulsa, a Live and Let Live City

My visit to Tulsa revealed a city where diverse viewpoints coexist harmoniously, as my Uber driver suggested, and I experienced its vibrant mix of friendly people, Art Deco architecture, vegan food, and unique attractions like the Gathering Place park and the Greenwood Rising Black Wall Street History Center. Tulsa is actively revitalizing its downtown, attracting young talent with innovative programs, and offers a lively music scene, quality mocktails, and a growing spiritual community, making it a city worth exploring.
