Hunter Biden: Smashing Stigma? Or Seeking Sympathy?
PUBLISHER’S NOTE
It’s Monday, the start of another week. This week, I don’t know about you, but the world feels like it’s on fire. Here at The Sober Curator we don’t get into politics, and we intend to continue not to. And yet, this week it feels as if recovery is on trial with the start of the Hunter Biden trial.
It is disheartening to see the headlines poking fun at behaviors I have struggled to forgive myself for. Disappearing for days or weeks at a time and my family not knowing where I am, now a punchline on the morning news of all places. As a society we must do better when it comes to discussing those in recovery.

Hunter Biden Quietly Celebrates 5 Years of Recovery
Hunter Biden celebrates 5 years of recovery, his recovery date is June 1st, 2019. He credits his second wife, Melissa, for helping him to enter into recovery and for being a positive influence in his life. Remarking on his journey, Hunter said, "You have to believe that you're worth the work, or you'll never be able to get sober. But I often do think of the profound consequences of failure here."
Hunter feels that his first responsibility for himself and his family is to "make it through that fight clean and sober, and I feel a responsibility to everyone struggling through their own recovery to succeed."
"Maybe it's the ultimate test for a recovering addict — I don't know," Hunter remarked. "I have always been in awe of people who have stayed clean and sober through tragedies and obstacles few people ever face. They are my heroes, my inspiration."

Alcohol & Substance Use Disorder Resource Guide
At The Sober Curator, we provide high-quality content centered around the vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle of sobriety. While our focus is on the positive aspects of sober living, we also acknowledge that life can present challenges without the aid of alcohol or substances. Coping with these challenges alone can be daunting, which is why we strongly believe in finding recovery within a supportive community.
If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder, or mental illness, we urge you to seek help. While the task may seem daunting, it’s important to remember that support is readily available and that there are people out there who genuinely want to help.
